Document does not open in Word due to unknown.
Cause:
Unknown.
Solution:
Open the Word and copy and paste small portions of the document from NotePad. Save and reopen in Word each time until the document no longer opens.
1) Select a small section of the document in NotePad. (Start at the beginning of the document.)
2) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Copy'.
3) Open a new document in WORD:
a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'New...'. (The New dialog box appears.)
b) Click the 'General' tab.
c) Select the 'Blank Document' icon.
d) Click 'Document' radio button in the 'Create New' group.
e) Click 'OK'. (A blank document appears in the document window.)
4) Place the insertion point at the beginning of the document.
5) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'.
6) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
7) Reopen the document.
8) If the document reopens, repeat steps 1-7 until the document no longer opens.
NOTE: When the document no longer opens in Word, note the last section pasted into the document and delete that section from NotePad. This will delete the corrupted portion of the document.
9) Save the document in NotePad after the corrupt section has been deleted.
10) Reopen the document in Word.
